TEACHER OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Mrs. Kim Simko who was chosen as the 2022 Eaton May Teacher of the Month. Ms. Simko teaches 7th grade Science. Her students have consistently been amongst the highest performing students on the common assessments in Hampton City Schools. Last nine weeks her students scored 27 percentage points higher than the division average.

Mrs. Simko has a passion for science and creates a classroom focused on learning. She incorporates labs, higher level questioning, hands on activities, movement, and technology into her lessons Ms. Simko has assisted this year with hospitality, Anime, PBIS, and the drama club. Congratulations to Ms. Jasmine Cobb who was chosen as the 2022 Eaton March Teacher of the Month. Ms. Cobb is our school counselor for half of 6th grade and all of our 7th graders. Ms. Cobb helps work with our students to address their social emotional needs, assists with schedules, and SOL testing. She sponsors our National Junior Honor Society and co-sponsors our GIRLS club. Ms. Cobb is our Eaton tutorial coordinator working with our Homework Club, Math Virtual Saturday School and in person tutorial. She is also the site coordinator for Eaton's GEAR UP grant! Congratulations to Ms. Cristen Green who was chosen as the 2022 Eaton April Teacher of the Month. Ms. Green teaches 8th grade Algebra I and Geometry. Ms. Green's students have consistently been amongst the highest performing students on the common assessments at or near 100%. Ms. Green tutors her students before school and works with our in-school tutorial program.

Ms. Green engages her students by building relationships, setting high expectations, goal setting based on data, and using a variety of technology including Desmos. She is one of only two teachers to have perfect attendance this year. Please congratulate her and thank her for supporting Eaton Middle School!

Congratulations to Ms. Cecile Trevathan who was chosen as the 2022 Eaton January Staff Member of the Month. Ms. Trevathan serves as our school finance officer in charge of making sure our money is spent correctly. Her duties include working as a purchasing agent, completing purchase orders, preparing checks, fundraisers, and following fiduciary procedures. Ms. Trevathan serves as a positive face for our school, answering the phone, greeting visitors, and being the focal point for our office at dismissal each day. She helps out with special projects including Wing fest, Honor Roll celebrations, yearbooks, pictures, and ceremonies. Congratulations to Ms. Danelle Wright who was chosen as the 2022 Eaton February Teacher of the Month. Ms. Wright teaches 6th grade World Language, 7^th, and 8^th Spanish I and II. She serves as a key member of our Morning Motivation committee and helps to create presentations and activities. Ms. Wright sponsors our running club. She recently became Eaton's Girls Volleyball coach Ms. Wright engages her students in a variety of activities utilizing technology. She is a team member who is always willing to help a student or fellow staff member. She treats all with kindness, patience and respect - even when monitoring the hallways. Congratulations to Ms. Christina Horn who was chosen as the 2021 Eaton November Teacher of the Month. Ms. Horn teaches 6th, 7^th, and 8^th grade Art. She serves as our Elective instructional leader and also teaches Excel Art. Ms. Horn sponsors our Art Club and helps to support our Drama club. Ms. Horn engages her students in a variety of hands-on art projects and has them critique their work using a TAG system. Her students have recently displayed their perspective murals throughout the school. Please congratulate her and thank her for supporting Eaton Middle School!

Congratulations to Ms. Jazlyn Jones who was chosen as the 2021 Eaton December Teacher of the Month. Ms. Jones teaches 8th grade Course 3 Math and Algebra. She serves as a key leader on our Gear Up committee helping to write our grant and serve as a community liaison. Ms. Jones sponsors our Morning Motivation club, has previously worked with our Girls Club, and helps to support our tutorial programs. Ms. Jones engages her students by building relationships, goal setting, and using a variety of technology including Desmos. Her Course 3 students had a 100%. pass rate on the first quarter CSA! Congratulations to Ms. Jessica Scott who was chosen as the 2021 Eaton September Teacher of the Month. Mrs. Scott teaches 7th grade Math. She creates an engaging and fun classroom with high expectations. Ms. Scott serves as our Math instructional leader and our Eaton Basketball commissioner. She has been instrumental in supporting our fellow Eagles by providing instruction for students when her colleagues are out. Congratulations to Nurse Michelle Goodman who was chosen as the 2021 Eaton October Staff Member of the Month. Nurse Goodman serves as our school nurse and is the chairperson of our Safety Committee. During the COVID-19 pandemic she has taken on many extra responsibilities. These include helping with personal protective equipment, contact tracing, social distancing, training our staff, working vaccination clinics and consulting with our Eaton Families. Nurse Goodman has gone above and beyond to make sure we have a healthy school. Please congratulate Nurse Goodman and thank her for supporting Eaton Middle School!
